We’ve given you our picks of both in Darwin – whether that’s in good old fashion op-shops or specially curated vintage stores.
SISTER BUFFALO
Nightcliff sure is making its mark as the home of vintage and secondhand, the curated second-hand fashion store – Sister Buffalo – is a local favourite.
The shop is on Pavonia Place in Nightcliff, and they sell local and interstate vintage finds, custom pieces, and also run sewing classes and events in-store.
HENBURY PRECINCT
The Village Shopping Centre Casuarina
‘Opportunity Knocks’ is a store run by Henbury School – and one of our favourite things about it is that the op shop doubles as a training facility for students with special needs – it’s run entirely by Henbury School staff, students, and a small group of dedicated volunteers.
They’ve got a specials rack out the front and it’s usually got a couple of retro gems on it! They are open Monday – Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm, and Saturday’s 9:00am -2:00pm.
The best bit? There’s a café there too!
FRILLY’S @ NIGHTCLIFF UNITING CHURCH
21 Cummins Street, Nightcliff
Is there anything better than a cuppa and a bargain? Frilly’s morning tea and coffee space at Nightcliff Uniting Church serves up Fair Trade coffee, tea, and hot chocolate by donation every Saturday morning.
The Nightcliff Uniting Church’s op shop is open Friday afternoons 4 – 6:00pm and Saturday 9 -12, but we recommend Saturday just for the coffee!
This store has a treasure trove of clothes all at extremely reasonable prices – we’ve found everything from fashion label dresses for work, to vintage overalls & oversized tees.
FANNIE BAY VINNIES
1/13 Fannie Bay Pl, Fannie Bay
This gem is located in the little shopping strip at Fannie Bay, and is stocked up with lotsssss of clothes, games, and books – so make sure you allow time to sift – because there are usually a few gems!!
CASUARINA VINNIES
3 Bradshaw Terrace, Casuarina NT 0810
The thing we love about the Casuarina Vinnies is that it’s often visually merchandised – it’s got a real bit of atmosphere! It’s another large-format store across the road from the shopping centre, so again give yourself time to sift!
