Shaun has been across the globe working with not-for-profits, but the pull of Darwin was too strong. (We don’t blame him!)
Shauny is the founder of House of Darwin – a social enterprise clothing brand that reinvests profits into social programs in remote indigenous communities.
What is your absolute favourite ‘Real Northern Territory’ location, and why?
Bawaka – It means ‘heaven on earth’.
A tropical oasis located on the shores of the Arafura sea in East Arnhem Land. A melting pot of wild crocodiles, white sand, and palm trees.
Who is the local artist you are most inspired by?
Franck Gohier – his unique childhood and Territory inspiration which meets Andy Warhol + Basquiat style gets me every time.
When you go to the Markets, which stall do you visit first?
Straight for the watermelon juice. Every time!
Favourite place to shop / favourite local business?
What’s the one thing you want to show or tell every friend/family that visits?
I want to show them Kakadu + tell them that the best plan is no plans.
Where is your favourite cafe?
What about the best coffee?
The Goods – Mpartwe.
Where do you go for date night, or if you’re looking to impress a visitor?
I’d take them to our family beach block in Mandorah.
Where do you head for an after-work drink?
Babylon Bar in Austin Lane.
Which NT event do you hang out for every year?
When is your favourite time of the year in Darwin and why?
Dry Season – Camping season + a buzz in the city.
Your ideal weekend away in the Top End would consist of…
Swinging in the hammock between two palm trees on Wagait Beach.

Park in the loading zone in Austin Lane – Not one parking ticket for 2020!
