In Darwin, it’s silly season all year ’round but even more so as Christmas approaches. We’ve curated some out of the box party ideas for a Christmas function, birthday or just a good ol’ get together with mates.
First off the rank are these private pasta parties at Stone House wine bar. Become knowledgeable on the history of pasta, learn how to make it fresh, and add some additional pasta recipes to your repertoire – all while gasbagging with your mates with a wine or cocktail in hand. Plus as an add on you can do wine tasting or tarot card reading… or both!
If you’d prefer to party outdoors, why not rally your mates for a picnic party? With it’s beautiful weather, spectacular sunsets and grassy foreshores, Darwin is Australia’s capital of picnics (we may have declared that ourselves). There are companies such as Picnics at Seabreeze or Two of Us NT that will set up an Insta-worthy picnic for you. Check out our ultimate picnic guide for a list of grazing box and picnic party suppliers.
If bowling is more up your ‘alley’, then Kingpin has parties for all ages. Grab your ‘fun’ mates and pick the combo of bowling followed by karaoke and make it a night to remember. Kingpin also has a fully licensed bar with cocktails and a party food menu.
Overland Safari’s who typically run tourism and educational tours have packaged up a day out at Litchfield for swimming, short hikes and 4-wheel driving for up to 34 people as a Christmas Party special. So if your work mates are the adventurous type then this is for you! They even supply lunch at Litchfield and dinner back at the Waterfront at Wharf One or Bella Pasta.
Beat the heat with a pool party at Cossie’s Poolside Bar & Bistro. You can book a poolside table for an afternoon party-sesh of swim, eat, cocktail and repeat.
For a true Territory-style party, try Wallaroo’s Rural Pub and Grub Crawl. This party includes door to door pick up and drop off for you and up to 20 mates, and a crawl to some of Darwin’s most iconic pubs – Humpty Doo Hotel, Darwin River Tavern and the Noonamah Tavern.
Lastly, a quintessential Darwin boat party is always a good idea! Set sail on a private boat and party into the sunset on Darwin Harbour. There are many companies that offer private boat parties, including Sail Darwin and City of Darwin Cruises – they’ll captain and cater so you just need to bring the troops!
