Itinerary: Darwin in two days

As Darwin locals, we often spend our weekends and holidays heading out bush or interstate – but even we shouldn’t discount a staycation in our own city!

There’s so much to discover in Darwin City, from the bustling local restaurants, scenic walks, street art, galleries, tourism experiences, and amazing accommodation. We’ve tailored a two day/one night vacation in Darwin City.

Day 1 –

Head out for breakfast at Rabbit Hole, then grab a coffee to take away and walk the city laneways on a street art tour. Download the Darwin Street Art Festival app for a map, artist information – and use the augmented reality function on some of the murals!

By mid-morning, it’s time to hit the shops for some retail therapy, there’s many indigenous art galleries to discover, homewares, and fashion stores. Make an effort to explore the numerous hidden arcades and laneways – you never know what you’ll find!

Head to the Waterfront for some R&R by basing yourself on one of the beach club lounges in the recreational lagoon. Our tip for lunch is to grab takeaway tacos and sangria from Hot Tamale whilst you continue to relax the afternoon away.

When you’re ready, check-in at the Hilton Hotel Darwin (on Mitchell St) and get ready for an enjoyable evening at its newest restaurant, PepperBerry Restaurant. The interior of the new venue oozes class, and they serve modern Australian cuisine combined with bush spices and native NT ingredients. If the timing is right, book into one of their exclusive dinners – such as the Penfolds Wine & Dine experience. (On a side note, if you’re looking for a Christmas lunch then the Premium Christmas Lunch at Pepperberry will please the whole family!)

Day 2 –

Our first tip is to sleep in… because you’re in a hotel AND the beds at the Hilton are AHHMAZING! Actually – milk it even more with breakfast in bed. Once you’re ready to embrace the day, grab a book, sunnies and hat and take advantage of the Hilton’s large outdoor pool for a morning swim. \

After checkout – it’s time for Lunch. There are plenty of options in our 10 Lunches Under $10 article – or take our word for the best dumplings in Darwin just around the corner from the Hotel.

If you’re lucky enough to have a Territory Tourism Voucher, then check out Hilton Darwin’s Ultimate Stay and Dine package.
