Best pools in Darwin and the Top End

Need to know where you can find the best pools in Darwin and Top End? Whether it be for taking in an epic view, or sipping a cocktail in the water – we’ve got you covered.

You can’t come to the Territory (or live here) without knowing the best places to swim – We know we always talk about the waterfalls – so we’ve hand picked some of our favourite Northern Territory pools across Darwin and the Top End – poolside cocktail bars, pools with a view, and pools that are part of an absolute adventure.

DARWIN: MINDIL BEACH CASINO RESORT – INFINITY

INFINITY is the ‘beach club’ of Darwin’s best pools – the combination of an infinity pool overlooking Darwin’s most iconic beach and a row of palm trees gives you the ultimate cocktail-sipping, sun-soaked experience.

Girls enjoying INFINITY

Located at the casino and surrounded by other bars, restaurants and a beautiful grassed area that commonly holds events – you can order from the QR code at your pool lounge or table and settle in for the day. With beats playing from the pool’s DJ decks – it’s a definite weekend afternoon vibe.

DARWIN: WAVE POOL

Fun in the Wave Pool

Hear us out… the Wave Pool is FUN!! It’s safe swimming no matter your age – and it’s actually pretty fun even as an adult! Get a board or a tube and surf the waves in, we promise you’ll get a laugh or two out of it!

LITCHFIELD AREA: DE LAGO RESORT ON LAKE BENNETT

So is there anything better than hitting the road early to Litchfield, getting the waterfalls to yourselves, and then stopping back in at Lake Bennett on your way home for a pub lunch and a frozen marg in the pool? We didn’t think so.

The newly named De Lago Resort has recently renovated and reopened, and their pool may be small but it is a VIBE. The restaurant / pool is open from 11am – Late, 7 days a week and we recommend a stopover for sure!

KAKADU AREA: BAMURRU PLAINS

Where else can you watch buffaloes wander across a flood plain from the comfort of your infinity pool!?

Bamurru Plains, on the outskirts of Kakadu National Park is absolutely wild luxury, and it definitely wins for it’s unique infinity pool view! How cool is this!!

EAST ARNHEM: BANUBANU BEACH RETREAT

Pool and view at Banubanu

Arguably one of the most pristine places we’ve been in the Northern Territory, it’s also got one of the best pools in the Top End.

Banubanu is on Bremer Island, off Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem Land. It’s an eco retreat and it’ll cost you to stay here, but it’s worth it! Our local’s tip though, is to jump on the daily ferry over!! For only a fraction of the price of staying at the retreat, you can spend the day soaking up the sun, actually swimming in the ocean, kayaking, or most importantly… sipping cocktails by the pool!

OVER THE BORDER: LAKE ARGYLE

The famous Lake Argyle infinity pool

Okay so it’s just over the border… but we HAD to include it. If you’re on a Top End road trip and heading into WA, it’s a MUST see before you head deep into the Kimberley.

The best part about the Lake Argyle infinity pool is that it’s at the Caravan Park, so you can literally be swagging it and still have access to one of the most epic pool views in Australia. Warning though – this pool is COLD!!

HAPPY SWIMMING!
