Who makes Darwin’s best laksa? It’s quite well known by now that Darwin is the laksa capital of Australia… and the long-running competition for the best spicy soup used to be a heated discussion among locals at the Markets on a weekend morning – but now, thanks to the Darwin International Laksa Festival: we have the answers for you!

If you haven’t heard of the Darwin International Laksa Festival – put it on the list for next year!
It’s our build-up season special – a whole month of trying, tasting and rating the best Laksa and Laksa Inspired dishes across Darwin and now even TERRITORY WIDE – all culminated in a full-blown festival at the end of the month! It’s the most Darwin thing ever – thousands of people sitting in the sun, in the build-up… eating laksa!
After 2024’s Laksa League – with some new venues in the mix – the BEST LAKSA and PEOPLE’S CHOICE Laksa have been crowned, with TWO Golden Bowl winners for the first time ever!
- GOLDEN BOWL: CHOW, DARWIN WATERFRONT & BAMBOO LOUNGE, TIPPERARY WATERS
- PEOPLE’S CHOICE, LAKSA: KOPI STOP, DARWIN CITY
CHOW, DARWIN WATERFRONT
A continual fan favourite & three-time winner of the Golden Bowl – we suggest trying their Bahn Mi with Laksa dipping sauce too – amazing!! You’ll find CHOW at the Darwin Waterfront.
BAMBOO LOUNGE, STUART PARK
It’s their first Golden Bowl – but we’re sure it won’t be their last! Always a favourite – their laksa is balanced and creamy and always with plenty of ingredients! You’ll find Bamboo Lounge in the Tipperary Waters Marina.
KOPI STOP, DARWIN CITY
A Darwin favourite for coffee – Kopi Stop also does a mean laksa! Super flavoursome and tasty – you’ll find them on Harriet Place.
So – where are the other best Laksa’s in Darwin? We’ve rounded up the TOP TEN Laksa list, featuring the top dishes from the 2024 International Laksa Festival!
