Rapid Creek, the cousin to the better known Nightcliff, is the Northern suburbs hot-spot. This is where you want to stay if you’re looking for a troppo house, a short stroll to the popular Nightcliff Foreshore where you can spend the evenings eating from the many pop-up food stalls and watching the sun set over the Arafura Sea.
This bayside suburb, located only 5km’s from the city, is set around a marina and neighbours onto Charles Darwin National Park. If you’re looking for an epic pad with all the bells and whistles and even water views then this is for you!
About an hour’s drive from Darwin is Adelaide River, an historic town set on the banks of the Adelaide River, known for its crocodiles but also its locality to the best the Top End has to offer – Nitmiluk National Park, Kakadu National Park, Litchfield National Park, Robyn Falls and the Douglas Daly region.
Litchfield National Park can often get overseen by the famous Kakadu National Park, but Darwin locals know how incredible ‘Litchy’ really is. It’s an easy day trip to Litchfield from Darwin, but there is so much more to discover in Litchfield that the popular Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole. Stay for a weekend (or longer) and take some hikes to the lesser known Upper Cascades, Tolmer Falls and Walker Creek.
Brinkin is a family suburb in the Northern Suburbs of Darwin and also home to Charles Darwin University. Its located beachside on the stunning Casuarina Beach and Dripstone Cliffs where you’ll find a mecca of people and dogs enjoying the sunset on a nightly basis.
