A day out on Stokes Hill Wharf

The Waterfront is often our go-to for a nice meal or place to visit with friends / take tourists… but did you know the historic Stokes Hill Wharf also has some fantastic seaside dining options?

Not only is there delicious seafood dining at Crustaceans (and a funky marine-themed fit out) there’s a HEAP of alfresco dining to choose from in the Port and Starboard Arcades.

Whether you’re looking for some asian fusion, Indian, Thai, burgers, Fish & Chips, or ice cream – Stokes Hill Wharf has got you covered. Our favourite place to go when you don’t all feel like the same thing, becuase you can get different things and all share a table overlooking the harbour.

Crustaceans

Perhaps the most exciting addition is the sister cafe of the RabbitHole in the mall – the Blue Rabbit! Waterfront coffee & delish, healthy breakfast and brunch food. It’s the perfect morning stroll around the Wharf from the Waterfront accommodation if you’re staying there for your visit to Darwin!

A day out on Stokes Hill Wharf is also great for getting an even better vantage point of the harbour – through a harbour cruise, a sunset sail or even 00Seven jet-ski tours and Airboat tours, all leaving from the Wharf.

RFDS and Stokes Hill Wharf

Before you embark though – be sure to check out the Bombing of Darwin tourist attraction & Royal Flying Doctor Service Darwin Tourist Facility, and the Skyline Ferris Wheel which is back for the dry season!

It’s perfect for a date night, or it’s perfect for the kids. There are new activities this year too – you can try your hand at the Aussie themed 9-hole mini golf course, and once you’ve worked up a thirst head to the Stoked Bar for pizzas or some really fun cocktails in pineapples and coconuts.

Our locals tips for a day on Stokes Hill Wharf?

  • Walk over for breakfast at the new Blue Rabbit cafe
  • Take a fishing rod for a post-breakfast fish, there’s even a dedicated fishing platform!
  • Experience the story of the ‘Bombing of Darwin’ through virtual reality technology at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility
  • Depart for one of the beautiful harbour cruises or boat tours on offer, or a JetSki ride, before getting back for a round of mini golf and a golden hour ride on the Ferris Wheel
  • Take your pick from all the alfresco dining options, and come back together at a waterside table for the sunset
  • If it’s a Wednesday or a Sunday during the dry season, you’ll even get to enjoy live, local musicians from 5pm-7pm
  • And a top tip – parking is free for 3 hours but can get busy – but there’s a FREE shuttle bus from the waterfront which is very handy!
